Cindy Dees grew up on a horse farm in Michigan and went to the University of Michigan. She majored in Russian and East European Studies. After college she became a pilot in the United States Air Force, flying everything from supersonic jets to the C-5 Galaxy, the world's largest cargo airplane. After flying in the Gulf War, she left the Air Force to pursue having a family and a writing career.

       Cindy's mother is an English teacher, and she dared Cindy to write a book. Cindy bet her a dollar that she could write a publishable novel. Although she admits that first book will probably never see the light of day, she owes her writing career to her mom and a one dollar bill.

       Cindy currently has 15 books in print. Her latest, The Medusa Seduction, is the next installment in the popular Medusa series. This series details the adventures of an elite 6-member team of women modeled on Navy SEALs -- inspired by Cindy'sopportunity to fly in the test program where Navy SEALs trained to do airdrops out the back of C-5's. Cindy spent months working with them and watching them operate and wondering what it would take to become one of them. In an interview for A Romance Review, Cindy says, "Of course, the giant and ultimately insurmountable obstacle is the physical strength of SEALs versus the fittest woman on the planet. There's no contest.

       "But, eventually it occurred to me that if the Navy were to put together a team of all women SEALs, then they'd all have about the same strength and missions could be profiled to fit their physical capabilities. And the Medusas were born!"
