MMRWA Meeting – SPECIAL EVENT – September 16, 2017

Our Saturday, September 16 meeting  is at a special time with unique circumstances, so please make note! We will be meeting at The Demmer Shooting Sports Education & Training Center, 4830 E. Jolly Rd, Lansing, MI 48910 at 10:00 am where instructor Michael Galella, with an assist from the facility's Firearms attorney (and former MI State police officer), will speak and answer questions on all things firearms-related (NEED TO KNOW:  the word to use is "FIREARM." "WEAPON" is forbidden!).  What are the current concealed carry laws in Michigan (laws differ from state to state!)? How do you get licensed? What are the pros and cons of having a firearm for self-and-home protection? What would your PI female detective carry (and where?)?  What do Michigan law enforcement officers use? What does Hollywood get right/wrong? Hawkeye or Katniss?  Here's where you can find out (and check out the range if you'd like!) The deets:

We will meet at 10:00 am at Demmers for the presentation.  The cost is $10 which you pay in advance when you REGISTER (if you want to use the range afterwards, check the website for open shooting times .  Only  up to .22 caliber! Print up a copy of the release to fill out if you think you might want to shoot.  If not, just scroll to the bottom and check "I Agree" for the sake of liability. There's more information on the sign up link).

REGISTER

After an overview of what the facility offers, our presenters will address previously submitted questions from our group (personal or writing-related) and open the floor for discussion. We will be using a conference room on site afterwards to conduct our MMRWA business meeting, then members are on their own (or put together a group!) to get lunch at any number of restaurants in Okemos (i.e. Grand Traverse Pie Co, Cracker Barrel, Gilbert & Blakes, Applebees, etc.). Directions to the site and more information on the facility can be found at the above links.

The Demmer Center is a shooting sports training facility that has both indoor and outdoor archery ranges (including a 3D walking course) as well as indoor firearm ranges where visitors can shoot up to .22 caliber pistols and rifles. The MSU teams train there at Olympic levels! They offer a variety of programs from beginner to advanced in archery and firearms including Archery 101, Bowhunting and Bowfishing, Introductory Rifle or Pistol classes, the NRA’s Basic Pistol Certification Class, and frequent Concealed Pistol License classes.

Please e-mail me at ncgideon@msn.com once you register and provide any questions you have for the instructors (or about the event).  Let's make this a bang-up chapter event (Sorry, couldn't help it!)!!
