Rules & Guidelines

You are considered published if you have been published (traditional or self) in the last 5 years. You can only enter work with a copyright that falls between January 1st, 2017 thru Dec. 31st, 2017. Published authors must submit their copyright page with their entry as verification.

You are considered unpublished if you have not published (traditional or self) in the last 5 years. You can only enter work that is not contracted by the contest deadline at midnight (EST) on September 10th, 2018.

 The following rules and guidelines apply to both the published and unpublished entries.

  1. Entries will not be accepted until July 1, 2018.

  2. There is no limitation on the number of submissions. A fee is required for each entry.

  3. Entries from the 2017 contest may not be resubmitted.

  4. A maximum of 1500 words.

  5. A 250-word lead up to explain the scene is permitted. It will not be included in the 1500-word limit and will not be judged.

  6. Electronic submissions only.

  7. 12-pt. font (Courier, Times News Roman, or Arial are accepted.)

  8. Double-spaced with 1-inch margins

  9. Word doc or RTF accepted.

  10. All entries must be received by midnight on September 10, 2018. (EST)

  11. The contest committee reserves the right to close any category with fewer than five (5) entries. Payments will be refunded.
